One way that the next Season of Deep Rock Galactic will differ from Rival Incursion is through the addition of new weapons. Dubbed Rival Escalation, the Season will expand the arsenals of the miners with some new secondary weaponry. Each class of dwarf will get another sidearm to wield when fighting on Hoxxes, and fans of the Coffee Stain Studios game should give these new guns a look ahead of their arrival.

The Scout’s Nishanka Holtshark X-80

Gamers that have been wanting a crossbow in Deep Rock Galactic are in luck, as fans will soon be able to wield one if they play as the Scout class. While players need to reload after every arrow fired, each shot seems to do incredible damage, with the weapon’s one-shot potential being clear. A neat feature also sees players able to pick up their crossbow bolts, allowing for a constant source of ammo that keeps players fighting even when they are out of Nitra. Based on the footage shown, there could be different arrow types to try out, with many hoping for some exciting Overclocks.

The Gunner’s Armskore Coil Gun

Fans of Deep Rock Galactic’s Gunner can look forward to a weapon with a brief charge-up period. Fortunately, this brief wait to fire is worth it, as the gun deals immense damage to any Glyphids it comes into contact with. Not only that, but the Armskore Coil Gun penetrates through structures, meaning that players can hit bugs through walls. Given how intense some of the fights in the game can be, being able to fire through some cover could be incredibly useful.

The Engineer’s Shard Diffractor

Deep Rock Galactic’s Engineer class will get to make use of a new secondary weapon called the Shard Diffractor once the next Season begins. Massive for a secondary weapon, the gun looks like a grenade launcher, though its function is actually much different. Essentially a giant laser beam, this weapon burns through enemies with ease. It seems to have great penetration as well, with one burst from the laser beam taking down two enemies in the gameplay that has been shown.

The Driller’s Colette Wave Cooker

A Wave Cooker certainly sounds like a unique addition, and Ghost Ship Games lived up to the weapon’s name when designing it. Deep Rock Galactic’s Driller inserts their arm into the device, with it essentially being a gauntlet. They can then fire some radiation in front of them, with anything that walks into the path being damaged over time. After enough time in the radiation, the enemies will die, making the weapon’s cooking effects focused primarily on damage over time.

With Rival Escalation beginning on April 28 for Steam users and May 5 for those on Windows and consoles, these weapons will be in the hands of Deep Rock Galactic players very soon. It will be interesting to see what new builds players come up with using these guns, as each is extremely unique and differs greatly from the weaponry currently in the game. With 3 primary and secondary weapons available for each class, the game offers a lot of depth for every kind of miner.

Deep Rock Galactic is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
