In the beginning of 2021, Rodrigo announced her debut single “driver’s license,” which quickly reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Her follow up singles “deja vu” (No. 1) and “good 4 u” (No. 1) also reached the top 10.

In May 2021, Rodrigo released her album Sour, which also did well on the charts, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 Albums chart. Currently, “driver’s license” and “good 4 u” have reached over 1 billion streams on Spotify, and all the songs on Sour have over 100 million.

Grammy Awards

Rodrigo was nominated for seven awards total (Best New Artist, Best Music Video, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Solo Performance, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year). When the night ended, she walked home with three: Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance.

“thank you,” she wrote with three pink emoji hearts to her 24 million Instagram followers following her win.

iHeartRadio Awards

On March 22, 2022, Rodrigo was nominated for nine iHeartRadio awards including Song of the Year (“driver’s license”) Female Artist of the Year, Best New Pop Artist, Best Lyrics (“driver’s license” and “deja vu”), Best Fan Army, Best Music Video (“driver’s license”), TikTok Bop of the Year (“good 4 u”) and Best Cover Song (“good 4 u” performed by Camila Cabello).

In a viral Instagram post, Rodrigo posed with her awards. She won Female Artist of the Year, TikTok Bop of the Year, Best New Pop Artist and Best Cover Song.

Billboard Music Awards

Billboard has just released their nominations for this year’s Billboard Music Awards and Rodrigo has been nominated for 13 awards—just slightly behind Doja Cat. The Weeknd grabbed the most nominations with 17.

Rodrigo is also nominated for Favorite Female TV Star, Global Music Star, Breakout Artist and Kids TV Show (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) at this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards.

In 2021, Rodrigo was nominated for five Video Music Awards including Artist of the Year. She went on to win Song of the Year, Best New Artist and Push Performance of the Year.

Rodrigo also took home New Artist of the Year at last year’s American Music Awards all while being nominated for numerous others including Favorite Pop Album, Favorite Pop Song and Favorite Music Video.
