First baseman Miguel Cabrera (Tigers), third baseman Josh Donaldson (Blue Jays), DH Nelson Cruz (Mariners) and outfielder Mike Trout (Angels) offer some semblance of an All-Star team, although Royals continue to lead the balloting at five other positions, including two in the outfield, even after MLB canceled up to 65 million votes.

Royals continue to lead at second base (Omar Infante), shortstop (Alcides Escobar) and catcher (Salvador Perez), while Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon trail only Trout in the outfield.

With the voting window set to close Thursday, it would appear that Infante’s hold on the starting spot at second base could be lost as he leads the Astros’ Jose Altuve by fewer than 250,000 votes. However, Cruz’s lead over KC’s Kendrys Morales is similarly small in relative terms.
