“The Miami Marlins are thrilled to host the 2017 All-Star Game at Marlins Park,” team owner Jeffery Loria said. “This is representative of a new chapter in so many ways, including the evolution of our great city, the bright future of our ball club, and even the sport itself.”

Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park (2015) and San Diego’s Petco Park (2016) will host the Midsummer Classic the next two seasons.

With three straight All-Star Games in National League cities, leagues will continue alternating who bats last. That means the A.L. team will bat last in San Diego in 2016, despite the fact that, obviously, San Diego is an N.L. city.

Per USA Today, the announcement of the 2017 contest in Miami means the All-Star Game likely goes to Baltimore or Toronto in 2018.

By 2017, N.L. cities will have hosted eight of the last 12 All-Star games.
