The rumors and leaks that have been circulating so far have been able to paint a picture of what the upcoming Call of Duty game will be like. Now, although the leaks and rumors mentioned here have been from some pretty trusted sources, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt.

Every Call of Duty 2021 Leak and Rumor Out There as of June 2021

According to the popular Call of Duty leaker ModernWarzone, and many others, the upcoming title of the series will be called Call of Duty: WW2 Vanguard. The leaks from ModernWarzone also suggest that the new Call of Duty will be set in an alternate universe where the Second World War never ended. Now, many of the rumors suggest that this one will be set during the time period of the Second World War, while others suggest that the game will be set in the 1950s, both of which sound plausible if the War never ended in the game’s universe.

In addition to the setting, some of the leaks suggest some of the core gameplay features of the upcoming Call of Duty game. According to the noted Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson, the upcoming CoD game will feature more on foot action as compared to the other titles from the series, which follows the widespread rumors suggesting the World War setting of this game. As for the storyline of this game, Henderson has specified that it will be rather gritty and controversial, much like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. He further says that the fans can expect some dark and mature moments spread throughout.

Call of Duty: Warzone Implementation and Connections

Following the current format, it is also expected that this upcoming game will also tie into Call of Duty: Warzone, much like how Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War did. If the game follows the same path as Black Ops Cold War, there are chances that keen-sighted players might just be able to spot some Easter eggs or references about the upcoming game a month or so before its release.

Furthermore, Henderson has also suggested that the reveal of this upcoming title will indeed take place within Call of Duty: Warzone, much like Black Ops Cold War did last year. This was something fans were really on board with, and the reveal was actually successful in building a considerable amount of hype for the game. In addition to this, having a new game tied with Warzone would mean yet another boost to the game’s arsenal and would perhaps bring new POIs in Call of Duty: Warzone as well, not to mention that this will perhaps bring another roster of new operators into the game too.

Call of Duty 2021: PS5 and Xbox Series X?

Rumors suggest that the game will be using the IW8 engine, the one that Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare currently uses. Given the fact that the game will be releasing on the new gen consoles, the community can expect visuals and gameplay on part with those titles, if supped up for PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

However, this raises questions about whether this upcoming title will only be available on the latest consoles. Activision has almost always released games that would run on the latest as well as the immediately previous-gen consoles, so it might be safe to assume that the upcoming Call of Duty game will release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 besides Series X and PlayStation 5. For now, no concrete information points to this one way or another.

The upcoming Call of Duty game is no doubt one of the most anticipated titles right now and is building an amount of hype in the fandom. There was similar hype surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War last year, especially after the internal alpha version of the game got accidentally revealed on the PlayStation cloud. As for the new Call of Duty game, fans will most probably have to wait for the public beta to get a taste of what awaits.

Call of Duty 2021 is currently in development for unspecified platforms.
