Since its February release, the studio’s take on the battle-royale genre has gone through three seasons so far, each adding additional content in the form of new characters, new weapons, and new cosmetics to be earned or purchased over a three to four month period. Furthermore, currently during Season 3, many updates and changes to balance gameplay for all players have been implemented.

In-game, players select a character and work as one of up to 20 thirty-man teams to scavenge for weapons or other items with the goal of being the final group left standing in the zone. Unlike other games in the genre, however, the ‘Legends’ are unique individuals with their own skills, backstory, and quirks that make up the roster of Apex Legends. With the upcoming holiday celebration, it is presumed that each of the 11 Legends currently available will receive a Christmas-themed skin. In particular, some Legends such as Octane, Mirage, and Pathfinder were previewed with skins that wouldn’t seem out of place in a Christmas carol paying tribute to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the Nutcracker, and a festive robot dressed as Santa Claus.

For the Holo-Day Bash Christmas Event, other Legends will receive a new makeover representing the more Scrooge-like elements of the season. Caustic, Crypto, and Bangalore are wrapped up in disguises mirroring a rugged hat-less Santa, the icy reflection of Jack Frost, and a snowman-themed militant. Thanks to iLootGames and That1MiningGuy on Twitter, players have already gotten a look at all of these upcoming skins and other charming costumes like Apex Legends’ Wattson dressed as a workshop elf.

But players shouldn’t be looking to skip out on the celebration if none of the skins seems interesting so far. The leaks also confirmed that new weapon charms and character quips with winter themes will also be available. But until the Christmas season arrives in-game, players can continue battling for supremacy and adapting to the changes in Apex Legends’ latest update.

In the end, even if the holiday event won’t be something that all players enjoy, it represents an attempt to differ itself from similar games in the battle-royale genre. Although much like its competitors at a glance, Apex Legends differs itself through the combined emphasis on teamwork and tying events, seasonal or unique, to the lore and world-building.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
